Visiting Wakehurst during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

With over 500 acres to explore, we believe that people can roam safely through our wild botanic garden. You can always find a quiet spot in the gardens to reconnect with nature and we hope your visit provides much-needed fresh air and respite. To ensure social distancing, please only book tickets for your household (excludes carers).

To keep our visitors and staff safe, we have introduced a host of measures to support government guidance on social distancing. This includes closing some indoor buildings and spaces including the Mansion and Children's Heritage Garden. Please check the latest COVID-19 guidance on visiting the gardens before you travel. Help us stay open by following both onsite and government guidance on hygiene and social distancing.

We care for some of the world's rarest plant species. To help us preserve our beautiful gardens, we have some do's and don'ts;
Including the following:
• Only registered disability assistance dogs are allowed in the gardens and must be on a lead - please leave your pets at home
• Help protect our plants and trees so everyone can enjoy them - climbing, picking or pruning is not allowed
• Bicycles, tricycles, roller skates, skateboards, micro-scooters, balance bikes and other vehicles (except powered wheelchairs) must be left at the gates
• To protect our lawns, ball games and sports (including jogging) are not allowed in the gardens.
Please see here for further information.

If you or your guest has symptoms of COVID-19 you must not book or visit the gardens

It is a legal requirement to wear a face covering inside all buildings. Both the entry and exit route will be through the Visitor Centre and so you will need to have a face covering for your visit to Wakehurst. For more information visit www.gov.uk.

If you wish to dine in our Stables Kitchen you will be required to give your contact details for the NHS Test and Trace before you are seated. Otherwise, take away catering is available in the gardens.

Your contact information will be retained in accordance with the UK Government COVID-19 guidance. This information may be shared with NHS Test and Trace if required. Further information can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works
